stems. Try it beside
Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Alba’ for ten weeks or so
of combined flower power. 2-litre pots.

Dicentra cucullaria ‘Pittsburg’
Choice free-flowering clone with pale flesh-tinted lockets.
Part or full shade, peaty soil. Spring. 6” £3.50

Dictamnus albus
Grown since Roman times. Erect stems of aromatic deeply divided
leaves and spikes
of lemony white blooms with long stamens. Known as the Burning
Bush because
the seedheads give off a volatile oil on hot days that can be
ignited and burns
for a few seconds without harming the plant.
Seed grown – there may be a few of the pink flowered form
amongst them. from
Sun, good well drained soil. Early summer. 3ft. £3.60

Disporum sessile ‘Variegatum’
Rather like a smaller but daintier Solomon’s Seal. Creamy-white
bell-shaped flowers
dangle beneath leaves broadly striped cream. Spreads by underground
runners
and I think looks much more effective if allowed to run tightly
round a pot.
Prefers moist shade. Spring. 15” £3.80
