Salvia involucrata ‘Bethellii’
Large, shrieking pink tubular flowers with a knob of bracts at the top of each raceme.
Hardy in a sheltered position in southern England and, I’ve heard tell, even in the Midlands.
Best to overwinter very young plants indoors or take cuttings just in case. from

Exciting new colour strain of this popular aromatic bushy border plant. Bright
pinky-red flower spikes are produced all summer. 2-litre pots.
*Sun, well drained. All summer. 1’8” £4.80

Semiaquilegia ecalcarata 'Flore Pleno'
Resembles a Columbine, with fully double dark maroon spurless flowers.Beats me why this attractive, easy plant is so rarely offered. 2-litre pots.
Sun or shade. Early summer. 18" £4.50

Sidalcea ‘Elsie Heugh’
Pretty pale pink flowers with fringed petals on stiff stems, like a miniature
Hollyhock. Good clump forming foliage. 2-litre pots.

Sidalcea ‘Wine Red’
Divisions of a subtle wine red seedling found in the garden here. 2-litre pots.
*Sun. Summer. 3ft. £4.80

Smilacina racemosa
Solomon’s Seal relation with the same arching stems, but ending in fluffy
creamy-white sweetly scented flowers. Slow to increase.
Likes shade and lime-free soil. Spring. 2’6” £4.50

Stachys macrantha ‘Superba’
Large, fat spikes of hooded lilac-purple flowers over mats of corrugated dark
green downy leaves. 2-litre pots.
Prefers sun, tolerant part shade, well drained. Early summer. 2ft. £4.80

Stachys officinalis ‘Hummelo’
Recent selection by Ernst Pagels with taller, less dense whorls of bright purple
hooded flowers. Dense clumps of dark green corrugated foliage provides good
ground cover. 2-litre pots.
*Sun or shade, well drained. Summer. 18” £4.80

Symphytum x uplandicum ‘Axminster Gold’
Simply the best variegated Comfrey, with huge elongated greyish leaves
broadly margined with golden cream. Blue flowers. Especially attractive
in Spring and Autumn but rather ragged after flowering. Cut down to
encourage new basal growth. Damaged roots revert to green so best not
to dig around clumps. 2-litre pots.
Sun or shade. Late spring. 3ft. £5.50
